MISSION: LEADING PEOPLE TO BECOME COMMITTED FOLLOWERS OF THE WAYS OF JESUS CHRIST.
While we are an autonomous, self governed church; we are part of the international movement called Churches of Christ, locally accountable to Churches of Christ in NSW (called freshhope).
The founders of our movement summarised how our core values should be shaped:
- In essentials (to how we agree on someone finding salvation in Christ) there must be - unity
- In non-essentials (anything outside of the way to salvation) – flexibility
- In all things - love and acceptance of the individual
A Commitment to:
Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13 NIV; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV ; Philippians 4:4-7 NIV)
As the cornerstone to our ever growing relationship with God and the movement of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
As a method in recognising God’s sovereignty and Lordship upon our lives.
As a form of peace in knowing our prayers are not in vain, whilst desiring God’s will over our own.
As a form of showing respect to God.
The Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV)
Written by people under this very inspiration and anointing of God.
As a history of God’s interaction and plan for humanity.
As teaching that transforms lives today, guides into all Truth, providing instruction for daily living.
Christ (John 14:6-7 NIV ; Acts 4:10-12 NIV)
As the only way through which to receive spiritual salvation.
As the Son of God and Messiah.
Who lived as an example of how we should strive to live.
Evidence of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-47 NIV)
Jesus said, “…by their fruit (lifestyle) you will recognise them.” He was referring to the movement of God’s Spirit in the life of a true believer.
We believe God’s Holy Spirit leads us into all truth and understanding of anything that is Holy. His role is to convict, challenge, and lead us in seeing more of Jesus in our lives and less of our human nature.
His desire is to come upon a person in power and strength, placing upon them the gifts and empowerment of the Spirit.
Evangelism (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV ; Romans 10:14-17 NIV)
This is a commandment to every follower of Jesus Christ - to tell others who are not yet Christians of God’s great love for them, and of Jesus' acts, deeds, death and resurrection, and the meaning God brings into our lives. Making life worth living.
Added to this, evangelism is a natural result of someone becoming a Christian. There is the desire to share this Good News with others they come in touch with.
Church (1 Corinthians 12:1-31 NIV ; 2 Corinthians 5:11-6:2 NIV)
The Church is the main avenue God most desires to use in reconciling people to Himself.
Our church is a body of Christians whose desire is to bring positive recognition of God from the community in which it lives.
There are many ways to bring positive recognition of God. Key ways are through personal spiritual growth and seeing others come to encounter, know and experience God.
Our church is also a place of safety, belonging, care, love and acceptance.
Holistic Healing (Isaiah 61:1-11 NIV; Luke 19:1-10 NIV; Acts 3:1-26 NIV)
The Good News of salvation does not simply end with the knowledge of entering eternal life. It goes further. Salvation speaks of Hope, Healing and Enhanced lives. Salvation is holistic. The outworking of this is what the rest of our lives is spent discovering.
