REDEEMER MINISTRIES

An Australian Christian charity is helping families get out of a cycle of debt servitude in Pakistan.

Redeemer Ministries has paid the debts of 167 families forced into the generational slavery of brick kilns.

It has also found them new jobs, accommodation, schools and a church.

Co-founder Pastor Stephen Downie recently visited some of those families and knows his ministry has drawn them to Christ.

Sydney Refugee Team

Sydney Refugee Team began in 1996 as part of International Teams Australia. When International Teams closed in 2020, our team moved to WEC Australia so we could continue our mission: sharing the hope of Jesus with people seeking asylum and refuge, and walking with them as they build a new life in Australia.

We believe in one God who created everything and exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus is both fully God and fully human — that he lived a perfect life, died for us, rose again, returned to the Father, and will one day come again. We trust in the Holy Spirit, who changes lives and gives us strength to serve.

We hold to the Bible as God’s inspired and trustworthy word, guiding everything we believe and do. We recognise that all people are affected by sin and need God’s forgiveness. Salvation comes only through Jesus — through his sacrifice and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit — and it is received by grace through faith.

We believe that everyone will be raised from the dead: those who belong to Christ to eternal life with God, and those who reject him to final judgement. We also believe that all followers of Jesus are united as one Church, called to be his witnesses throughout the world.

Guest Speaker: Jason Potter - National Director OAC Ministries Australia

Jason Potter is a seasoned leader, author, pastor, and educator with a lifelong passion for helping people grow. His leadership journey began early — at just 17, he was elected to the board of Belconnen Church of Christ in Canberra. Two years later, he moved to Tasmania to serve with Fusion Australia, and by the age of 20 he had stepped into his first pastoral role as the youth minister at Knoxfield Church of Christ in Melbourne.

Over the years, Jason has pastored local churches, served in national and international ministry leadership, and pioneered an innovative church‑based education model now used by Bible colleges across Australia.

Jason lives in Canberra with his wife, Rachelle, and their four teenage children. He’s also a committed Collingwood supporter — and hopes you won’t hold that against him.
